Kitchen and service doors
Where specified, doors between kitchen and front-of-house or corridors — constantly in use by staff carrying food and plates.
Food & Drink Premises
Parsec Fire Doors repairs, replaces and installs fire doors in restaurants, pubs and takeaways — kitchen, cellar, stair and back-of-house doors — planned around service, deliveries and cellar access. Formal inspections and reports are arranged through an external specialist inspection partner.
Which doors must be fire-resisting is set by the fire strategy, report or fire risk assessment. In food and drink premises they commonly fall into these groups.
Where specified, doors between kitchen and front-of-house or corridors — constantly in use by staff carrying food and plates.
Doors to cellars and basement stores, often propped for barrel and crate deliveries.
Doors on stairs and escape routes, including routes from upper dining or function rooms.
Store, office, bin-store and staff-room doors that see trolleys, cages and heavy traffic.
Doors between the trading premises and a flat or staff accommodation above or behind, where present.
Rear doors that double as delivery entrances and escape exits, where security and escape needs meet.
Wedged doors are one of the most common problems in hospitality. The first step is a door that closes and latches reliably. Where staff genuinely need a door open during service, a suitable hold-open or free-swing device may be appropriate if the fire strategy and alarm arrangements support it — that is the responsible person's decision, informed by their fire risk assessment, not something we assume.
Rear doors need to be secure out of hours but still open easily from inside when the premises are occupied. Problems usually come from added surface bolts, bars or unsuitable locks. We correct the fire door and its ironmongery and coordinate with your security or alarm installer where their systems are affected.
Kitchen and service doors are exposed to cleaning chemicals, moisture and impact. When repairing or replacing them we work to the doorset's specification and the manufacturer's instructions for components, finishes and seals, rather than assuming any product suits every kitchen. Choices are confirmed in the quotation.
Worn closers, damaged edges, failed seals and hardware problems on a sound, identifiable doorset are often repairable. Replacement is more likely where the leaf or frame is badly damaged, has been altered beyond its evidence, or the construction cannot be established for a door that needs to be fire-resisting.
Where a formal inspection and report is needed, we arrange it through an external specialist inspection partner. Parsec then scopes, prices and carries out the works from that report, an existing report or a fire risk assessment action list; any Parsec site assessment only confirms scope.
For a quotation, send the report or action list, a door list with locations, photographs of both faces and the hardware, and your trading and delivery times. On completion, records follow the same door references for your fire safety file.
