Fire Doors for Warehouses & Industrial Units

Parsec Fire Doors repairs and replaces hinged fire doorsets in warehouses and industrial units, planning the work around shifts, deliveries and working routes. Formal inspections and reports are arranged through an external specialist inspection partner.

Scope: Hinged Fire Doorsets Only

This page covers hinged fire-resisting doorsets and the openings they protect. Fire shutters, roller shutters, industrial loading doors and automatic smoke or fire curtains are not part of this service.

Which doors need which performance is set by the building's fire strategy and formal inspection findings. We work from those rather than assuming every internal door is a fire door.

Office and welfare doors

Openings between offices, canteens, welfare or accommodation areas and the warehouse or production floor.

Stores and plant rooms

Doors to stores, plant, electrical and service rooms where the strategy or report identifies them.

Corridors and stairs

Doors protecting circulation routes and stairs, including mezzanine and office-block stairs.

Pairs and wide openings

Double doors where closing sequence, meeting stiles and flush bolts need to work together.

Common Problems In Working Buildings

Doors in busy operational areas tend to fail in a recognisable way. Findings usually point to use and handling rather than age alone.

  • Impact damage from trolleys, pallet trucks or carried stock on leaves, edges and frames
  • Doors wedged, tied or propped open for convenience, damaging closers and seals
  • Closers adjusted, disconnected or overpowered so doors no longer close and latch
  • Latches and keeps misaligned after frame movement or heavy use
  • Pairs that do not close in sequence or meet cleanly at the stiles
  • Holes, added fixings or unsealed penetrations from signage, cabling or equipment

Repair Or Replacement

Many findings on a known, otherwise sound doorset are repairable: closer replacement or adjustment, hinge and latch work, seal renewal and some localised damage. The decision depends on the documented construction, condition and extent of alteration.

Replacement may be the sounder route where the leaf or frame is heavily damaged, the construction cannot be identified for an opening that needs it, or performance cannot reasonably be restored. Where damage repeats, the brief can also consider protection and hardware suited to how the opening is used.

Sequencing Around Operations

We agree the programme with the site or facilities team, grouping doors by zone and working around shifts, deliveries and vehicle routes. Escape routes stay usable through deliberate sequencing, and doors that cannot be accessed are recorded for a return visit.

  • Named site contact, induction and any permit requirements
  • Work zones agreed around shifts, loading and pedestrian routes
  • Noisy or dusty tasks timed with the site team
  • Each completed opening checked before the area is handed back

Formal Inspection And Parsec's Works Role

Where a formal door-by-door inspection and written report is needed, we arrange it through an external specialist inspection partner. Parsec then works from that report, an existing report or an FRA action list to scope and deliver the works. A pre-works site assessment may confirm access, dimensions and the remedy for our quotation, but it is not a formal inspection report.

Quote Inputs And Handover Records

Send the report or FRA action list, a door list with references and locations, photographs of both faces and hardware, known ratings, site rules and working-hour limits. The quotation states the action for each door, frame and perimeter work, components, making good, disposal, exclusions and VAT basis.

At completion, records follow the same door references so finished, no-access and outstanding openings remain clear for your fire safety file.
